Ahhh, it snowed again last night - reminding me that I also clear off the solar panels, an important part of my day!

This year spring seems to be coming late throughout Canada. It’s only 5 degrees here and it’s 10:30 a.m. The mountains need the snow so I guess your the one stuck with it. Hopefully the spring thaw won’t happen too quickly. Would make everything so muddy for you. This way it will keep the forest floor moist and maybe there will be one heck of a edible mushroom crop this year on your mountain.

Enjoy the mountain nights. The skies are so clear up there! Miss you.

Looks like you have lots of dead standing timber close by which is a blessing (except for fire protection). Those long limbed firs can be dangerous when they come down though because they can bounce on side hills and turn on you. I always got my Winter wood in before the heat of Summer to make sure it will be completely dry by Winter. Even dead standing can be green near the base and I hate climbing on the roof to clean the chimney when it begins to get clogged. Where I grew up most people had a copper coil running into their kitchen stove and back out to a steel tank with a tap on it for hot water. It wasn't hard to set up but it did need a relief valve and pressure gauge on top in case the stove got too hot for too long. If the gauge got near the red line all you had to do was run some water out of the tap. In your case it would have to be fed by an external gravity feed. It is handy having a hot water tap, especially if you want to fill a bath tub.

What a gorgeous sunset!

We didn't have hot water when we came here either. I heated it on the stove to do dishes. Yeah... don't miss that AT ALL!

Amy. If I were a bear wintering in your cabin/den, I would probably write a similar story to yours. An absolutely precious life you guys are living and the rest of us have to do so vicariously, with envy. Thanks for making us jealous. Carver Glen
