Commercially done pork meat is nasty. Since pigs will eat anything, and most commercial farms are horrible habitats for animals, the meat is full of bacteria and parasites. Pigs in general are not the best to eat, but if you raise them yourself at least you have control of what they eat.

Nice start at carving, good quality, sharp chisels are key as I've learned. Learning how to sharpen a chisel is as important as learning how to chisel ;)

Wishing you a wonderful rest of the winter!

Nice work on the spoon carving Amy. It's a way better than my first attempt.

When I was heading off road in the winter, I had a 10,000 lb. winch bolted to a steel plate attached to a hitch. I had receivers at the back and front of my truck, so whenever I got stuck, I had the option of pulling from the front or rear. Of course the winch and hitch set up weighed probably close to 80 lb., so it took a bit of effort to move it from one end to the other, but it sure made getting unstuck easy. Great for winching logs or other stuck vehicles too.

I got my tundra stuck last winter trying to pass a snowplow and aborted at the last minute, ending up in a 3’ high snow drift.

Fortunately I have a winch mounted in the front bumper and was able to pull myself out with a combination of 4wd low and winch. I also have used the winch to help direct a falling tree when using the chainsaw. Bottom line: get a winch. It will be a very handy tool to help you and others.

I should like to add that I purchased a custom bumper that has a pocket provision for any winch of my choice. My bumper is an "Adventure Series" with grill guard from CBI out of Idaho City, Idaho USA.

They are made to order - designed and manufactured specifically for whatever make and model you specify. They have great online help and support also by phone if you need to speak with technical sales, etc, Their bumpers are second to none and made of high strength steel. They also offer the same in aluminum. Sometimes they are backordered ~ 6 months, and mine cost me $2000, my winch $500 and total installation was $500. The bumper will permit larger tires, offer maximum road clearance (off-road approach angle). My bumper is constructed to be able to mount additional lighting or accessories I would like to add. I also have extra mirrors and amber bush lights from Baja Designs. I don't know how to use sub stack to attach photos or PDFs. If I can offer any assistance, I'll be glad to help. Glad you like my posted comment. Have a great day!

Kind and warm regards,

Dan - outdoor enthusiast
