Hello Amy. I’m from Peterborough Ontario. I worked with you at Suncor. I’m not sure how I found your post but I enjoy your writing.

I’m currently working as an artist creating whatever my mind can conceive and whatever my finances will allow me to produce.

Keep safe and cheers to living the dream.

Hi Amy, I am a school principal in Newcastle Australia. I can't remember how I found your page but I think it was Insta. What you are doing is so different from my everyday that it provides me with moments where I can stop and reflect during a busy work day. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mick! Thank you so much for keeping up with my adventures!

You likely already know but, when it comes to farming I'm inspired by the principles of permaculture - which originated in Australia :)

Hi Amy, I don’t remember how I came across your substack, but I’m glad I did. In 3 and a half years we’ll be living on the side of a mountain on the Trans Canada Trail in Greenwood. We’re probably not going to have city services since we’re technically not within the city limits of Greenwood. So needless to say, reading how you’re making the off the grid living work in the Greenwood area is right up my alley. Hope we get to meet one day. You’re doing awesome things with your life.

Oh wow, that's going to be a fun adventure! I hiked to Midway and back on the Trans Canada Trail my first winter here. The Greenwood area is truly my favourite. The mining history blows my mind.

It's a small world, I'm sure we'll run into each other!

Hello Amy,

You have a nice Substack set up. I like the format as well as the content. I wish I had the skills to do a similar one. My wife and I have spent the last almost fifty years of our lives in the mountains of British Columbia but we were always on the grid. We aren't as adventurous as you. Perhaps it's because where we grew up living rough wasn't always a choice and escaping from it was the goal. My wife was a Home Ec. teacher for many years and the fact that she grew up cooking on a wood stove helped her convert modern recipes for the kids in her classes who went home to kitchens without electricity. When she retired she was teaching the grandchildren of her first students. I was a working man who occasionally took time off for more university, but couldn't take the idea of indoor work so always went back to heavy equipment and labour jobs. No regrets on that choice, especially since I retired and could be outdoors whenever I want. Good luck on you lifestyle project, and the only ticks you have to worry about are the really black ones.

Thank you so much Ross, happy to get some feedback on the format 😊

The really black ones you say!? So far I’ve only seen ones with some white on their backs.

.. and one dog tick when I was visiting Oklahoma

Hi Amy, I have enjoyed getting to know you over the last year, and love reading your blog. Your life is so fascinating to me, you are both so brave and adventurous. Both of you are such kind people and a true asset to our community..

I’m from Midway, business owner and federal government employee. I work two full time jobs, but they both seem nothing in compare to your work for survival. Please keep writing.

Hi Amy, I was scrolling through fb, and found your page. I haven't read through yet, as I just found it today. But I plan to. My names Frankie, and I'm a construction worker from Monroe, Michigan. I am very fascinated with off grid living, bushcraft, survival precautions, and you get my drift. Lol. But I'm only half way there. I'm starting my collection of things I will need to be able to do more of this type of living, although I may never make it to my own , off grid homestead, I will continue to hope and dream, and follow people like yourself. Keep up the great life, I can already tell just by skimming your page and blog, that I will enjoy, and be inspired by your posts and writings. God bless you , and keep it safe.

Hey Amy, it's Lance, that guy that worked beside you for soooo many years at Suncor. I really love this blog and I'm proud of how much you to have accomplished. You've gone a long way since having your chickens in the city to building a life alot of us envy. Your real life experiences are a great read and quite comical at times and always make me smile. Can't wait for your next blog, I store them all away for future ideas of when I can set out and live off grid like you two have. Keep it up, your fans are waiting.

Got on the train to go to Tompkins, Saskatchewan a village of 150 people where my mom had a sister with her husband and kids. We couldn’t speak a word of English , went into grade one as the teacher had only 8 students. It took us about 3 months to learn English as it was just going into the school system in Holland. Hello Amy, my name is Maciej (Mat) from Cruiser of the Land. I've been enjoying your adventures and the process of building a life similar to mine. I originally came across your posts on IG through following some of the off-grid related posts.

I must say you are very impressive in your accomplishments.

I read (somewhere on here) that you do have a partner and have been curious how they contribute to creating all this. I have not seen any posts about that aspect. I completely understand if that is something you keep private, but I am curious how impactful they are.

Myself, until recently, have been single and doing this all on my own. Which, as I'm sure you know, is much harder in many aspects. Hopefully that will change in the nearer future if things work out for me.

Looking forward to reading more of your stories and wishing you success in your goals!

Maciej

Hi Maciej,

I love following along with your posts and adventures as well! I know the challenges and would like to say, you're doing amazing. And take beautiful pictures as well.

I get asked a lot about my partner. I'd say it's time to do a write-up! I've drafted up a post all about him, which I'll likely post in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you so much for following along in my journey and I look forward to following along in yours, too.

I look forward to reading it and your future posts. If you and your partner ever find yourself in the Cariboo area (around-ish 100 Mile House) send me a message. You both are welcome to visit, take rest, and in case you need any help with anything.
